Business networking is a difficult but key way to promote your small business.
Whilst many of us attend networking events and hand out maybe 10 business card, it can be a waste of time unless you really push yourself at the event.
So we turn to online advertising and pay for cost per click ads but they can be extremely expensive if the clicks don't convert to sales or if our margins are tight.
So other ways to promote are to use networking sites like the biggies of Facebook or Linkedin or Myspace. The problem with these sites is that they require you to have some kind of connection already with the people on them. Most people in your area don't really appreciate a new friend if they don't know them, also because sites like Linkedin seem to be aimed at the professional who work for large companies, it doesn't really help the smaller companies and new startups to be introduced to each other.
A new website www.rebja.com is here to remedy this by acting as an introducer to small businesses and promises to connect them automatically within their area giving small businesses in local areas a chance to really connect and gain potentially hundreds if not thousands of referalls and contacts.
